SKI TESTING IN THE HIGHLANDS!
For our staff, testing the skis is a huge part of the job. The knowledge gained during our on-snow test weeks allows us to be the best when it comes to recommending skis and advising our customers. So when we found out that the Ski Test week in Pila (Italy) had been cancelled it was a huge blow.
Lucky for us, some determined folks in the UK ski industry got together and relocated all the brands to a small resort in the Scottish Highlands! Sure the runs aren't as long, but what it lacked in elevation it totally made up for in other ways. (Check out the video above for a sneak peek!)
It's a bit of a drive, but once we got there we knew it was totally worth it!
We got 3 days of perfect weather and great snow conditions, all wrapped up in the beauty of the Cairngorms national park. The snow was soft powder on the first day and gradually became grippy, packed powder by day 3. Ideal for testing all the 2021 skis we're stocking next season. Nick, Adam, and Rob put the skis through their paces on both piste and off piste. By the end of the test week we had tested every ski we intend to stock and found a couple of others that were a total surprise.
We should say a huge thank you to the guys who pulled this test week together so quickly, and also to Glenshee Ski Centre who were super accommodating!
The weather is a bit hit and miss in the highlands, but this week was definitely a hit. - Actually, as I write this it is currently dumping snow all over the Nevis Range and Glen Coe! - So if you're unable to get away to the alps, Scotland is totally an option!
